Notes

Undecided whether to go to Porters, Cheeseman, BR or Cragieburn. Happy with any of the chill pass fields.

I have a Subaru Legacy with space for 3 pairs of skis on the roof. Safe driver with a decade of experience skiing the Canterbury clubbies (and 30 years' skiing total).

$30 per person for petrol.

Information

Porters is open today with all lifts spinning. At 5:45am we have scattered high cloud, with light winds at all elevations. It is currently 2 degrees in the base area. We are expecting a mainly fine day on the mountain, fun skiing, low crowds and good vibes, come on up! All the main trails have been groomed overnight with Easy Street being the pick this morning. Off trail conditions remain firm but may soften during the day. There are windblown pockets of fresh snow in places but please ski & ride with care as early season conditions exist. If you’re looking for a lesson, pop into our ticket office and book a spot with one of our instructors – we have options for all ages and abilities. Kids 10 and under ski for free at Porters. Porters Lodge Restaurant and Bar, just 6km up our access road, will be open for coffee from 9am, and meals from 11am. Pop in for apres after enjoying a day on our slopes. Our access road is chain free today. We recommend in winter that all vehicles carry chains. Our shuttle service will be running return trips throughout the day, picking up at Chain Bay 2 (and the lodge on request) at 9:30am and 10:30am. Return shuttles will be available all afternoon. If you have a NZSki Superpass, you are able to use this at Porters.
