Road info
With the ski area now closed the road is not controlled as it is during winter. While the road is open to the public, drivers need to take responsibility for their own safety - including fitting chains or not proceeding as appropriate. Please drive carefully on the road - be prepared to encounter heavy machinery, keep left, obey the speed limit and drive to the conditions.

A big thanks to everyone who joined us at Remarks this winter - we’ve loved sharing our beautiful mountain with you. We hope everyone has a great summer, and we look forward to seeing you for Winter 2025 :). Please note that the ski area is now the backcountry. Natural and man-made hazards exist and are unmarked and unprotected. There is no snow safety - the snow is uncontrolled. Ensure you check the Avalanche Advisory (https://www.avalanche.net.nz/region/10) for the latest conditions, and that you are prepared for safe backcountry travel. There is no Ski Patrol or Roads Crew and no rescue or support services on the ski area or the road - in case of emergency dial 111. Enjoy, and be safe out there.
